Welcome to the Community Marketplace on the Chicago Riverwalk!  The intention of the program is to allow small, neighborhood businesses an opportunity to get exposure to the high number of Riverwalk visitors and inspire visits to neighborhood locations. 


The Community Marketplace is located on the Chicago Riverwalk between Michigan Avenue and Wabash, between the McCormick Bridgehouse and Chicago River Museum and O’Brien’s Riverwalk Café.

Neighborly is an ethically sourced home, art, and gift boutique, also offering a large collection of Chicago-themed products. It just recently relocated to the Wicker Park neighborhood, it was previously located in the Ravenswood neighborhood. True to its name, Neighborly is woven into the artisan community in Chicago, sourcing products from over 60 local craftspeople, like ceramicists, woodworkers, and printmakers, as well as using local manufacturers to make its own line of Chicago-themed products. The style of products found at Neighborly follows the principles of the Midcentury Modern era, in step with the Modern style that permeates Chicago architecture unlike any other city.

Visitors to Neighborly's outpost at the Chicago Riverwalk will find a collection of its most popular locally made products alongside its Chicago-themed goods.

Colores Mexicanos is Chicago's vibrant Mexican tienda, full of authentic, handmade art, decor, gifts and other cultural treasures!

Our team is Leti and Erika Espinosa, two Mexicanas who immigrated to Chicago about 13 years ago, plus Gabriel Neely-Streit, "el Güero" a Gringo who worked for years in Mexico, and loves and admires Mexican culture.

We work directly and fairly with artisan families from 12 states across beautiful Mexico, and are constantly forming new partnerships!

Our gift shop is founded on our love and appreciation for Mexico's deep artistic traditions and its many indigenous cultures.

Chiya Chai is a unique chai-focused café located in the vibrant Logan Square neighborhood. With more than 150 different combinations of Chai, Chiya Chai has one of the most expansive Chai menus in the entire world. Along with Chai, Chiya Chai offers ethically sourced delicious food that come from countries closely associated with the history and culture of chai such as savory pies from Great Britain, curry and other dishes from India and dumplings from China and Nepal, where the owners are from.  As a community marketplace participant on the Riverwalk, Chiya Chai will offer a sampling of its menu including some of its most popular Chai flavors, curry bowls, curry tacos and savory pies. Chiya Chai’s presence on the Riverwalk will provide Riverwalk visitors with a taste of Chicago’s diverse culture and neighborhood businesses.


Applications are available for food and beverage, retail, arts and other businesses with the qualifications and expertise to operate a concession on the Chicago Riverwalk Community Marketplace for the 2022 Season, beginning next May. This procurement is specifically looking to provide opportunities to businesses offering concession services reflective of the cultural diversity and neighborhoods of the City of Chicago on the Chicago Riverwalk.  The City currently intends to establish a pool of qualified operators offering a variety of concessions showcasing the best of the City on the Chicago Riverwalk.  The Riverwalk Community Marketplace is located on the south bank of the Chicago River between Michigan Avenue and Wabash.

Applications are due November 8, 2021 at 4PM.
